What is Personalized Learning?Personalized learning is the type of teaching where the teachers allow the students to use their strengths and skills in order to learn. Every child learns differently, so teaching them all of the same way is counterproductive and helps very few students. Personalized learning is when teachers accommodate to each and every students learning types in order to ensure the greatest amount of learning and accomplishment. This style of learning is targeted to help out every individual. The video that I found about personalized learning that really helped me to understand what personalized meaning really meant was the video called “What is Personalized Learning”. This video describes all of the important aspects of personalized learning like what it is, what are the positives and negatives, how is personalized learning different than traditional styles of learning, what can it do for learning, and how it really depends on the student’s learning type and strengths. It talks about how this is the way of the future and how it is very beneficial to students’ learning and retention. It illustrates the idea of personalized learning by having interviews with teachers, parents, students, and show it working in a classroom, which really shows how it is working the classroom.
How to Include in my Classroom:In my classroom someday, I will definitely will use personalized learning for each and every single student in my class because I understand how difficult it is to learn when you are always taught at and talked to like you are the “average student”. In my classroom, I will spend the first few weeks of class figuring out each students’ learning type and strengths by having them do lots of different activities that call for different forms of multiple intelligences, like body-kinesthetic, linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and so on to see how they work the best. After figuring out each of the different learning styles, I will form lessons with each component in it and then when they work on their own, I will give them options of what they want to do. I will also make a universal grading scale that I am able to grade everyone the same way even though they are all doing different activities.
When to Use Personalized Learning? To be honest, I think that personalized learning is always appropriate. It may be hard at some times, take up a lot of time, and you may have to go around some obstacles, but it is all worth it for the children to success. Personalized learning really focuses on each individual learner, which is important when it comes to learning. Times where it may be hard is when students are very young, because if it is their first or second year of school, then they are most likely not going to know how they learn the best. Also, personalized learning (from what I have seen) uses a lot of technology, such as iPads or computers, but what if a school and surrounding area is in poverty? Personalized learning may not be as easy to do. So in order for personalized learning to work, the students must be at an age where they can decide how they would like to learn and they school must have the appropriate materials/devices. Without these things, it would be hard for personalized learning to be successful. Otherwise, I believe that personalized learning should always be an option because it is very efficient and beneficial.

Every student's learning is unique like a fingerprint. No one child learns the same. This is why we need personalized learning, because every child deserve the change to learn, and they are able to when they can play on their strengths and skills. So if every child is unique, there is no "average" to teaching because the average does not apply to anyone.

The 4 ElementsIn personalized learning, there are 4 different elements that come into play: Content Knowledge, Cognitive Skills, Habits of Success, and Expeditions. All 4 of these parts are important when it comes to personalized learning. These elements are how to achieve success using personalized learning. Without these 4 elements, personalized learning would not be able to be as effective.

Learning StrategiesIn personalized learning, everyone has a different way of learning that is easier and "more natural" to them. This picture demonstrates how the same information can be taught through different ways. On child is going through note cards, one is on the computer, and the other is playing with blocks. This shows that the children are all learning the same information, just learning it through different exercises depending on their multiple intelligences and what comes the most "natural" to them.
